Arrival
Posted by teaparty.. at 6:57 PM
Right now I'm in my lovely hotel room at the Hilton in Hawaii writing this on my sisters itouch which is why there is a likely chance of many errors. We just got back from shopping where I somehow managed to spend just over $300. Although I'm good at shopping I didn't really think I was quite that good. The shops here are very very different to he shops back in Australia. For one, they actually have designer stores, like Chanel and burberry in addition to the normal cheapies like forever 21 (the equivalent of supre). Then here as the amazing department stores nordstrom and neiman marcus, which are basically like David jones and myer except with actual designer clothing and very nice changerooms. I swear, the changeroom in nordstrom was almost the size of my bedroom back home except with more mirrors and this awesome yet strange platform for you to stand on. The room was simply yet chiclym decorated, with neutral colours and even a plush leather chair and coffee table. What was much more surprising though was the fact that the salesperson even let me try on the expensive designer clothes that I adore yet cannot afford. In fact the salespeople were incredibly nice and helpful despite my most likely apparent lack of funds. The salespeople were like this is all stores actually; scarily polite and only too happy to go fetch you a different size. To. be honest, although it is sort of nice at first it fast becomes irritating. They're not quite pushy but you can tell how much they want you to buy the product because their pay depends on it. Despite the slightly odd behaviour of the salespeople here (at least in comparison to in Australia) shopping is incredibly good. Everthing is so cheap here; sure it is in us dollars, but it is also much cheaper than it would be in Australia even including the conversion and everything. By the way, even though I cannot addoee most things I. Nordstrom I did buy a t by Alexander wang singlet that I have been lusting over ever since I found out about the diffusion line. I'll prevent. Yswlf from. Going into a long spiel on clothing and what I bought. Hawaii is actually much different to what I expected. For some reason in my mind I had images of it being very clean and neat an new but it's not really any of these things. It's still incredibly nice, especially our hotel, but you can see the effects of the GFC. There's a lot of cemenb and it is not pretty cement. The Beach is absolutely lovely though, as is the weather. It's actually warm here! That was a bit of a shock when I got out of the airport. Another thing that is surprising is the proportions of different races here. A very large proportion of he popation here is actually Asian. This means lots and lots of goodfood. I saw a noodle bar on the drive from the airport, an Indian restaurAnt is across the road an there is a Japanese steak grill place just around the corner. The flight was not very enjoyable alhough it was very smooth. The main problem was the usual problem with flights; bad food and an inability to sleep. My sister knocking over my coffee did not particularly help this. I think I got less than two hours sleep on total. I woke up to see he sunrise whichbwas absolutely worth of and pretty mich worth missing out on an extra ten minutes of sleep for. The onset of yawns is beginning and it isn't even 5 yet. My fingersare starting to get tired from tappin this all put on a little touch screen, so this is where up post will end. Plus I need some food |
